A Man Standing Behind a Seated Woman
(short film, 2009)
A standing man behind a seated woman was created by Veli Lehtovaara and Stav Yeini during their studies in the research cycle at P.A.R.T.S in spring 2009. The film is based on a short story written by the Israeli author Hanoch Levin. The multiple story tellers reflect upon a picture of a man standing behind a woman in a closed, unrecognisable space. The picture is transforming into a moving image which is constantly adjusting itself as the story goes on. The composition of sound and image create a dialogue between auditive and visual information. These two layers are sometimes synchronised and other times independent with unexpected consequences. The film won the audience prize in "idill" - international dance on line film festival 2009 in Belgium and has toured afterwards on festivals in Europe, as well as in North- and South-America.
